Topic: New Boiler, Pressure Vessel, and Refrigeration Codes Adopted

Effective June 9, under Ministerial Order M 165 deposited as B.C. Reg. 113/2015 (attached to this information bulletin), the Schedule to the Power Engineers, Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Refrigeration Safety Regulation has been amended as set out in the table below. The amendments include adoptions of updated editions of codes. Other editorial changes were also made that are not included in the table.

The following codes, standards or parts of a code or standard of the American National Standards Institute and National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (ANSI/NB) are adopted: (a) ANSI/NB-23 National Board Inspection Code 2013 Edition;

(b) ANSI K61.1- 1999/CGA G-2.1- 1999 Safety Requirements for the Storage and Handling of Anhydrous Ammonia Fifth Edition.

The ANSI/NB-23 National Board Inspection Code 2013 Edition of the American National Standards Institute and the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (ANSI/NB) is adopted. NOTE: No actual change to adopted NB code – editorial.

NOTE: See new section 8 below for CGA G-2.1 changes.

8American National Standards Institute and the Compressed Gas Association (ANSI/CGA)No previous section: Contents of new section 8 were previously adopted under Schedule 2 (b) – see above.The ANSI/CGA G-2.1- 2014 Requirements for the Storage and Handling of Anhydrous Ammonia Sixth Edition of the American National Standards Institute and the Compressed Gas Association (ANSI/CGA) is adopted.
