BC Safety Authority releases 2013 State of Safety Report

New Westminster, BC, April 25, 2014—BC Safety Authority (BCSA) today released its 2013 State of Safety Report, a comprehensive overview of BCSA safety information, compiled from incident reports, assessments, research, and enforcement activities, as well as interactions with clients in the field and consultations with industry.

The State of Safety Report is an annual publication issued by BCSA each year in accordance with the Administrative Agreement between BCSA and the Province of British Columbia.  The full State of Safety Report is available on BCSA’s website at: http://www.safetyauthority.ca/about/publications

“We continually seek to provide our clients and stakeholders with the safety knowledge needed to make risk-informed decisions about technical equipment,” says Catherine Roome, BCSA President & CEO. “BCSA’s comprehensive, knowledge-based approach to safety oversight comes from our vision of Safe technical systems. Everywhere.”

In 2013, BCSA conducted close to 40,000 physical assessments, investigated nearly 500 incidents, and issued almost 200,000 installation and operating permits.
