About the Awards
Since 2005, the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Public Safety have honoured individuals and organizations that make our communities and workplaces safer.
The awards are presented by the BC Safety Authority under the auspices of the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia. Together, we salute outstanding contributions to safety throughout the province and various industries with the purpose of encouraging and acknowledging all those who are dedicated to making our province a safer place to work, live and play.
There are three awards:
- Lifetime Achievement
- Exceptional Contribution to Public Safety: Individual
- Exceptional Contribution to Public Safety: Organization
Award Selection
Award recipients are selected by the Lieutenant Governor’s Public Safety Selection Committee, which includes a senior staff member of the BC Safety Authority, representatives of partnering safety organizations, and other respected individuals in the safety field.
Awards Presentation and Luncheon
The annual luncheon draws a large attendance of representatives from business, associations, government, labour, and the safety community.
