Derek Belton, New Westminster – Derek is currently the Operations Manager (Safety and Compliance) at Autogas Propane Ltd. In addition to his technical knowledge of the field use, installation, servicing and accessories of pressure vessels, he also holds an A gasfitter ticket. Derek chaired a subcommittee of the former BC Propane Gas Association of Canada to create Safety Management Programs for the propane industry.
Sanja Boskovic, Burnaby – Sanja is the chief instructor for the power engineering innovative distance education courses and the lead VClass Thermodynamics and Applied Mechanics instructor at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Madison University, USA.
Wayne Borrowman, Delta
Terry Connors, Vancouver – Terry holds a Facilities Management Administrator designation and is the Director of Operations at Cadillac Fairview. He is an active member of the Building Owners and Managers Association of BC, the Institute of Power Engineers and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Ed Florencio, Burnaby – Ed works as the Chief Power Engineer and Manager, Energy Centre at Vancouver General Hospital. Ed began working as a power engineer in the pulp and paper industry, and was Chief Power Engineer and Water Distribution Leader at Rio Tinto Alcan, where he worked for over 20 years. Ed holds a first class power engineer certificate as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mapua University in the Philippines.
Rinus Jellema, Nanaimo – In addition to over 40 years of experience in the pulp and paper industry, Rinus also holds a diploma in Urban Land Economics from the University of British Columbia and is a safety certified International Loss Control auditor.
Bert Johnson, Calgary, AB – Currently the Manager, Asset Integrity and Inspection for Nexen, Inc, Bert represents the oil and gas industry on the committee, with 30 years of experience in the corrosion and inspection aspects of the industry.
John Martin, Prince George – John is a Process Safety Leader at Spectra Energy, where he has worked in various capacities for over 25 years. He has a first class power engineer certificate as has valuable experience in the implementation of process safety management, management and investigation of process related incidents as well as managing and implementing organizational training requirements.
Richard Michael, Campbell River– A registered Technologist with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia, Richard has worked at Catalyst Paper Corporation for over 10 years in various capacities. He is also a certified API-510 Pressure Vessel Inspector and API-570 Piping Inspector with the American Petroleum Institute and has a certificate with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Bob Norton, North Vancouver – Bob is the Chief Engineer for Rogers Sugar and previously worked in the pulp and paper industry. An active member of the Western Canada Black Liquor Recovery Boiler Advisory Committee, Bob is also on the Emergency Shutdown Procedures subcommittee of the Atlanta BLRBAC. He is also a member of the Institute of Power Engineers, helping with the development of professionalism and education.
