Corrie Archer (Chair), Delta – Corrie is a National Field Engineer for New Equipment with Otis Elevator Co. With over 38 years of technical experience in the elevating devices industry, he conducts technical training classes in house and for various industry groups and is a member of the A17/B44 National Code Inspections Committee.
Raymond DeMeyer (Vice Chair), North Vancouver – Raymond is a professional engineer and the Principal of the consulting company, Vertech Elevator Services. He was, for many years, a member and Vice-Chair of the former Elevating Devices Safety Advisory Committee to the provincial government.
Bunny Wortman, North Vancouver – Bunny is a commercial property manager for Colliers International. She represented the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) for many years on the former Elevating Devices Safety Advisory Committee.
Louie Rapos, Vancouver - Since 1995, Louie has been the Director of Plan Services for Providence Healthcare (PHC). In this role he oversees 56 maintenance personnel, ensuring the safety of public and engineering areas within 7 hospital facilities, as well as medical equipment. Over the past decade he has actively participated in numerous committees including: Emergency Preparedness, Capital Advisory, Capital Projects and Planning as well as others. He is a member of the Canadian HealthCare Engineering Society (CHES)
Mike Funk, Mission –Mike’s career in the elevator trade began 21 years ago. He has been an Elevator Mechanic for over 14 years. Mike first served on the Executive Board for IUEC Local 82, and then held the position of Business Representative, for the past 2 years. Mike, just recently became the Business Manager for the Union.
Teddy Lai, Principal of GHL Consultants Ltd, Vancouver – Teddy is an architect and Certified Professional with over 20 years experience in building code consulting (fire and life safety), and including expertise in barrier free provisions, stair safety and slips and falls ergonomics. He has developed specialized knowledge in the application of Building Codes and formulation of alternative solutions to meeting the Building Code intent. He is a registered architect in the Province of BC, and his memberships and activities include: BC Building Code Interpretation Committee administered by Building Officials Association of BC, Chair of Regulatory Coordination Committee of the Architectural Institute of BC (AIBC), member of Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, as well as numerous other affiliations.
Rob Houston, Vancouver – Rob has been in the elevator industry for 15 years and is the District Manager for ThyssenKrupp Elevator (Canada) Ltd. with overall responsibility for the Business Unit encompassing Vancouver / Whistler / Yukon Region. The sectors within this Business Unit include New Construction, Maintenance and Modernization and are represented by 125 (+) employees. Rob has participated on two sub / ad hoc committees with the BCSA; including Mechanic Certification and Mandatory Maintenance.
Mark Townsend, Surrey – Mark has been in the elevator industry for over 18 years. He has been President of Garaventa, Canada Ltd. since 2000. Prior to this, he was the Operations Manager at Garaventa Canada Ltd. from 1993-2000. In addition, he has been a member of the ASME A18 committee for more than 10 years, and the Vice Chairman for the last three.
Randy Martin, Saltair, BC – Randy has been working in the pulp mill industry for 34 years. Since October 2008, Randy has been the Electrical Supervisor for Nanaimo Forest Products Harmac pulp mill. Before that, he worked as the Shift Electrician for Pope and Talbot Harmac Pulp Mill. He is also the owner of Fusion Electrical Services.
